More about Jin.

“Covid 19 grounded me in Singapore…I took the time to get my ducks in a row and this is one of my ducklings. ”

I am anyone, someone, everyone and noone.  I watch, listen to, and read way too much cerebral and unconventional content from varied countercultures. Most people think I am deeply weird. Some are unnerved by my intensity. And a handful are my mortal enemies. If you live in Singapore, I am that person walking around in wool beanie in 30°C.

Normally I work while travelling, living out of my backpack.  Covid 19 grounded me in Singapore and for the first time since c. 2006, I have stayed in the same place for more than 3 months straight.  I took the time to get my ducks in a row and this is one of my ducklings.

If you’ve had a conversation with me you will know how much I hate being around people, I err on the side that humans are born inherently bad, and I basically have zero faith in humanity. But this is the thing: if I was not the most covertly hopeful person in the world, I would not be the way that I am blindly believing that my choices, as one person, can actually make a difference. Every day I choose to refuse single-use plastics; I choose to avoid industrial meat; I commit to carrying on average 2.5 different drink bottles a day. Well, it’s either hope or insanity.

This is also what I believe of people. Most people are not doing better because they don’t know any better yet or they don’t have the time to focus and prepare. Most people are so confused and overwhelmed by overlapping and competing versions of information that it is easier to just be a skeptic about everything and not do anything. Most people are too busy to start learning this whole world of sustainability and conservation, to some it is like learning a new language. Most people assume that it is too difficult, inconvenient, and expensive.

To tell you the truth, it is hard and it is exhausting to keep up with everything. But when you truly know what you are standing up against, who you are standing up for, it is worth every inconvenience and every sacrifice. You just need to find your reason why. There are so many different ways to approach this lifestyle, everyone will find something worth fighting for.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
