People

Give a cluck because it was someone’s mom, dad, brother or sister who made what you just bought. What if it was someone you loved?
Take a Stand - For the People
Living Wages Matter.
It is no longer good enough for big corporations to make their millions at the cost of paying their employees the “legal” amount. We need to demand more from companies by supporting those who are doing the right thing and paying their people a living wage and protecting them as well. Nothing we consume should come at the cost of someone else’s happiness.
Chose Organic and natural.
Choosing organic also means that the food crop or cotton is grown without the use of synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, or GMOs. This is good for us and it is good for those who have to handle the crops directly. Understand that their health that matters as much as our own. Those who chose to operate organic also tend to be fairtrade as well.
Shop Small Businesses.
Supporting small businesses is an investment into a more diverse, creative, and connected future. When we shop small we are slowly re-creating the community we are all searching for and failing to find online. Every time that we choose to buy from a Farmer’s Market, a local butcher, book store or cafe, we slowly become regulars, then friends, then to infinity and beyond.

“As consumers we have so much power to change the world by just being careful in what we buy”
- Emma Watson
People is what makes the world go ‘round.
The world that we know today slowly became the way it is. When we speak to our grandparents we realise just how community-centric they were; they truly depended on their people. If it was not their parents, they knew who made their clothes, grew their food, and built their homes. We developed and industrialised our current world so fast, we did not think about true cost and consequences.
We did not calculate what it would cost our people. We are so disconnected from one another, that it is easy to ignore the father of a family of five who grew our quinoa in Peru, the mother of a starving child who sewed the very clothes we are wearing in India, and fellow citizens who are just surviving on labour jobs because we want to our conveniences. We need to wake up, give a cluck, and vote with every dollar we spend.

Simple Solution
Think about everything as an investment rather than a buy. Invest in your community, buy from small shops rather than corporations. Invest in your future by supporting Farmer’s Markets instead of grocery stores. Invest in yourself, buy less but high quality and shop slow, made-to-order rather than fast fashion throw-aways.
