The Internet is Your Oyster

Remember when we were growing up and teachers used to say “you won’t have a calculator everywhere you go”, well thanks Steve Jobs, because we showed them and then some. If you have a smartphone and unlimited data, you have the ability the rule the world. Smartphones are the equivalent of carrying an entire library in your pocket, plus conversations with dead visionaries and history makers, plus this and plus that and you can take photos too.

In today’s world, there is no reason for you not know how to do something. Everything is figure-outable. All it comes down to is personal time management. The next time the words “I don’t have time” crosses your mind, take a moment to remember these numbers:

  • the average american spends x hours of social media

  • the average american spends x hours indoors

  • the average american spends

If you haven’t heard, YouTube is a video-streaming website and a great place to learn how to do anything. Just Google it. But if you are into more structured learning, these are the few that I have used and/or recommend:

  1. MindValley All Access

  2. edX

  3. Udemy

  4. Coursera

  5. FutureLearn

  6. Ted Ed

  7. Access to IV League courses at Standford, Harvard, Yale, UC Berkeley, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon.

  8. MasterClass Annual Pass

  9. Domestika

  10. Gaia

  11. then there’s Audible, YouTube, Podcasts where you can listen in on conversations with the greats and learn some great highlights and insights.

  12. If given the opportunity I would also love to go on a Modern Elder Retreat

There are free options for most of them, and if you want to you can also can a certificate. And if you’re super keen, options for Masters, MicroMasters, and Associate Degrees are also available through online learning.
